Extremadura's natural wealth ,always considered of outstanding value, is now one of the most important European and World conservation areas however, in spite of the high standard of conservation we must be aware of this fact not to put at risk this valuable piece of nature.

A number of factors make of Extremadura a region of extraordinary interest regarding flora and fauna, since its hills, plains, crops, pasture lands and rocky lands enable the existence in a significant number, of animals which are already extinct in other areas

Our rural house “Las Canteras” is situated in the dry plains where cereal crops are cultivated becoming the sheltering area for a great number of animals. From March until the summer great bustards, kestrels, storks and montagu's harrier arrive. In the winter the cranes arrive. Some prey birds such as the griffon vulture or the black vulture stay in these lands for the whole year.

Almost of the species are sensitive to the habitat and some others are in danger of extinction that is why to enjoy them being at the same time respectful with the environment is a privilege for anyone committed with the environment.
