





It is situated in the north of the province of Cáceres on the “Ruta de la Plata ”. It is a medieval town founded by King Alfonso VIII. It has a great historical and artistic heritage closely linked to the monarchy and the Church since it was the Episcope See and also it was a cultural and study centre having three universities in those days.
Near Plasencia is the Jerte Valley, a hilly land with green leafy landscapes. A visit in spring is highly recommended when the cherry trees are in bloom and they offer the traveller the most breathtaking view.
La Vera Valley is the area in Extremadura with most abundant vegetation, and spectacular river gorges.
The Ambroz Valley , in the northern hills of Extremadura, is situated on the “Via de la Plata ” and it enjoys a microclimate which offers warm summers and mild winters. In Baños de Montemayor we can find the Roman Baths still in use together with a new spa.
