A little town in the province of Badajoz . Its time of greatest splendour was under Muslim domination due to its situation on the border separating Seville and Badajoz Taifa Reigns in 1030 a castle was built with defensive purposes in the “Sierra de Castelar.
From Medieval times Zafra has had an outstanding reputation for is crafts and its markets. Nowadays it takes place in Zafra one of the most important fairs in the Iberian Penninsula being attended by a great number of exhibitors and visitors.
Zafra offers the visitor both a historical old town and a modern dynamic centre.
