El Jerte

Its source is situated further north from Tornavacas, 900 metres high. It offers spots of outstanding beauty like the waterfalls in the Natural Reserve called “Garganta de los Infiernos”.

It later becomes Jerte Valley , a natural botanic garden full of heather, oak tress, chestnut trees and diverse flora not to mention the cherry trees.

Between March and April and lasting only a few days, Jerte valley is covered in white by means of over a million cherry trees in bloom. It is luxury for the senses that the traveller will be pleased to enjoy not only with the sight but also because of their sweet smell.

In summer you can enjoy the cascades and the natural swimming pools.

Autumn turns this valley red and invites you to walk its creaking paths and in winter you can enjoy high mountain and skiing activities.
